The House Ben Built

Steady was the man

Who built on the rock.

The house on that foundation

Stood every shock.

His life was full of action,

And not just full of talk.

Living by the words of Christ

Was his daily walk.

Much of his foundation

Remains to us unseen,

But all rests upon it:

Every board and beam.

In this great house

There is a lot of treasure.

God rewarded this man

With gifts above all measure.

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
